Brethren, It was good to see many old faces at our September Stated Meet-ing, however, most all of our younger Master Masons were no shows. I am hoping that I can persuade you to come down to our October Stated Meeting. The Stated meeting will start promptly at 7:30PM on Thursday October 1st. Dinner will be served at 6:30.
It is with a heavy heart that I inform all of you that the Grand Lodge has made another “redistricting” change and that, as of October 10th Solomon’s Staircase Lodge will be part of the 733rd Masonic District along with Gateway Lodge #339 in Brea, Yorba Linda Lodge #469 in Yorba Linda and the Research Lodge. We will truly miss our friends and Brothers at Anaheim 207 and our former inspector Worshipful Merritt Read, but look forward to establishing new relationships with our Brethren at our new District Lodges.
As was the case last month, there are a couple of high notes this month as well. First and foremost, I wish to congratulate Worshipful Carl J. Cupp as recipient of our 2009 Hiram Award. The formal presentation and celebration is scheduled for Saturday, October 10th at 2:00PM. I hope you will all come down and help us celebrate the momentous occasion. Officers will be in Tuxes.
Under additional Lodge business, please note our schedule for this month as it includes three special events. On the 22nd we have a live 3rd Degree for Brother Mitch Shanholtzer. We need a few volunteers for the second section so please let me know if you can attend. We are also having a Masonic Information Night on the 15th. If you have any family, friends, co-workers or neighbors that you feel would make good Masons, bring them down for a little 357 fellowship, some good desserts and some in depth 411 on our ancient and honorable fraternity. On the 29th it will be movie night so bring the wife or girlfriend and kids down for more fun and refreshment.
I wish to commend our Hall Association members on their achievements of the many milestones set at the beginning of this Masonic year. Our air conditioning and lighting projects have been completed and we are renting out our dining facility with regularity.
As part of our Lodge beatification project, I wish to call for a work party on Saturday, October 3rd at 9:00AM. I will need a Project Manager as I will be at the Grand Lodge Communication that weekend. If you are interested, please contact me.
As a reminder, we are back to formal wear (tuxes) for the Stated and subsequent special meetings.
Fraternally,
Chuck Hayes
